In a world where conflict equals entertainment, I found this conversation with awesome couple and long-time friends, Isi and Lisa Vuetibau, a refreshing and insightful talanoa. I’ve known Isi and Lisa for a while now and I’ve seen how far they’ve come and their story is an incredible case study of perseverance and determination. They are hustlers who have pivoted time and again when faced with adversity! We talked about their journey from working great jobs to going back to school after COVID hit and how they’re working towards becoming Intercultural Peace Builders and social change makers. This episode is filled with incredible insights into pivoting and “making lemonades out of lemons”, the art of hustle, family, and mediation.

A couple of themes that I felt throughout the episode:

  1. Va — The relational space and relationships.
  2. Kintsugi — A Japanese art that reminds us to celebrate our differences.
  3. Faith — A strong belief in God or a higher power.

While they share their stories with us — Lisa with fervor and Isi with gravitas — I would love to invite you to take down notes and share them!
