My PhD Fieldwork In Living Color

As I move into TikTok, I also want to share my PhD journey. I’ve recently come back from my first PhD fieldwork and so I thought I’d share a couple of clips.

I’ve recently started creating content on TikTok in a bid to reach a wider audience. I made this jump after analytics on this blog has shown that a vast majority of my Pasifika audience, especially my Fijian family, prefer watching videos rather than reading long-form content.

With my PhD journey having completed a year, I thought I’d share some vids from my TikTok account on here as well.

My trip to “Black Sands”

Here a few clips from my fieldwork where I was honored to study the entrepreneurial and industrious people of Nataleira village. My relationship with them is one of shared kinship and is called Mataqali because we are a part of the same confederacy—Kubuna.
